Adhesives

Different sticker printing adhesives can be used to suit different applications. Primarily, we use three different adhesives, of which two are variations of permanent adhesive which are normal and high tac. Both normal and high tac adhesives are used on stickers which are required to be permanently stuck to a surface. The high tac adhesive is well suited to difficult surfaces such as Polypropylene, embossed surfaces and stippled surfaces. Our removable adhesive is well suited to stickers where the stickers life is not expected to exceed 6 months.

Inks & Print Quality

The quality of the stickers from your sticker printing project can be greatly affected by the grade of inks used by the sticker printer, and also the types of ink supported by the actual printing machines that are used. We only use inks which are recommended by the manufacturers of our printers (primarily Roland). This ensures that our print quality is consistent!

Back to the types of ink supported by the sticker printers, there are three type/methods that you should be aware of. These are spot colour and two variations of full colour. Spot colour uses a single ink for each colour and is typically used in cases where very precise colours are a major requirement. The two variations of full colour printing are CMYK (which stands for the four coloured inks; cyan, magenta, yellow and black), this is used in many home inkjet printers and lower-end printers. The other variation is CMYKLcLm (which is short for Cyan Magenta, Yellow, Black, Light Cyan, Light Magenta); This colour model allows us to print high quality gradients without banding and light colours without graining. (Banding is where the gradient is not smooth, and graining is where you can see the printed dots).

On top of being able to print using the CMYKLcLm colour profile, our Roland VS-640 Sticker Printer is able to print white and metalic inks too using a CMYKLcLmMtW colour profile (which is Cyan Magenta, Yellow, Black, Light Cyan, Light Magenta, Metallic and White).
